Thanks to all forum members who mentioned this. It is great to know that i am not alone. It saves me a 25 minute hold time for Cox phone support. I am getting the warning symbol next to my POP inbox that tells me that emails are not arriving. Sometimes i can wait for 5 minutes until the symbol disappears and my emails arrive. In the past, i could click on the GET MAIL button and the problem would clear (not every time but occasionally) but that is not working today.
I also got the dialogue box saying something like "the server does not recognize your password". Entering the correct password does not help. 10 minutes later, this box stopped appearing. That is the problem i had for 2 days last week. The Tier 2 guy at Cox said they were working on the servers. They had to reset a server(s).
It is 1:30pm Phoenix time and my email is working again.

KC5, i spoke too soon. At 6pm my email inbox was empty and the error symbol was there. I clicked on Get Mail and my emails arrived. When things are working well, i don't have to click on Get Mail. At least i didn't get the "server does not recognize your password" message.
I am a happy Cox customer. Their phone support at Tier 2 is wonderful. They always take the time to solve a problem. But it can take 25 minutes to reach them when there are problems going on in the Phoenix area. As a matter of fact, the longer the hold time; the more i am sure that there is a system-wide problem. That is why i enjoy this forum.

I've had the same problem in Southern CA for about 2-1/2 weeks. The dialogue box with "server does not recognize..." message, inability to log on at times, and horrible delays in getting some emails (showing up hours after they were sent to me). I've called tech support twice. I have a ticket at level 2.5 whatever that is worth. The last time I called, I was told among other things: it could take 30 days to resolve, don't call them again/they will call me (yeah, right), the emails were probably in my spam folder and I didn't realize it (again, yeah right). The one tech support person was nice, polite and listened to me, and the other one was the opposite. I'm very, very frustrated.

It would be wonderful to have the problems posted online at the Cox website. Or they send out a mass email warning us about problems..... even if the emails did not arrive in our inboxes during the problem; we'd know that they were trying. Otherwise, each of us wonders if we are the only ones having a problem.
I would estimate that all but one of my Tier 2 (or Tier 2.5) experiences were positive. many of them are really smart and helpful.
One side note: I was told that a ticket number is only good for that day. If you call again in the future, it is gone from the system. Altho, if you press the phone button when asked if you are calling back a 2nd time about the same problem..... you do seem to get connected faster.
At 7pm December 3rd, my email is working fine.

Thanks MichaelJ. We appreciate the help from the Forum Moderators. You often respond in minutes. In the old days we would have to hold on the phone to find out if a problem was system-wide or only affected one of us. Could Cox set up a Reward so that the Forum Moderator who helps us the most gets a free cruise and $100,000 spending money?
