I've had a continued speed issue for months now. Outside of normal usage times I'm able to pull ~24Mbps (2am-6amish). The rest of the day I'm lucky if I can hit 7Mbps, and most of the time I'm at 1 or 2. I've had many techs out, and I've had them tell me everything from it must be someone's TV sending feedback into the line, to it's my whole home DVR causing it, to guys scratching their heads about what the filters on my line do (that other techs have put on).
Finally, yesterday a tech cancels on me (it's a good thing) and tells me I'm not the only one complaining and they're working on some larger connection box-type thing that provides signal to my entire neighborhood (Lake Forest Dr. and Regency cross streets, in CA). Awesome! And last night it was awesome. I was getting over 30Mbps and it was glorious. I get home from work today excited to use the internet at the speeds I've been paying for (with no requests for compensated time, I might add), and it's worse than it's ever been. It's so bad I can't get speedtest.net to even load. I spent about 10 minutes just getting to the point where I can post this forum thread.
I'm just at my breaking point. My question maybe isn't so much a question as... what am I supposed to do? I have a new tech coming out Friday. But honestly I'm still seemingly held at the whim of them telling me it's this or that, with no possibility of a solution.
What I would really love is to be able to call into tech support, not have to go through them resetting my modem every time as if that's the problem, them telling me I should try to bypass my router, and instead to be able to talk to someone who is aware of local issues and can help me report these outages. Is that available? Not everyone know what they're talking about when they call in, I get that, and even the best of us are wrong sometimes, but I can reset my own connection. I know it's not me. I just want a solution.

It's gone back and forth from great to unusable, so I guess someone is working on something? Maybe? I have a tech still scheduled for this evening, hopefully he knows what's going on. Still not sure what the issue is. It also looks like I *may* have been set back to my 25-30Mbps cap, where I should be at 50 now.

Alright, it's back to how it's always been. I had a nice tech come by today and he did a lot of work to test everything, etc. etc. and ultimately determined it wasn't me or the lines in my house, but something... else. Some larger issue. Interestingly enough neither he nor anyone he called was aware of any work going on nearby recently, despite my receiving two separate calls from two separate people telling me there was.
So anyway it's being 'escalated' and I should be expecting... something. A call I guess. Anyway, we'll see what happens. I am slightly more optimistic that this could actually be solved at some point in my lifetime.

I'm still awaiting some kind of resolution or information on what exactly is wrong. There was supposed to be a work being done this evening ... somewhere, but I've seen no result of that either in an attempt to contact me or the problem being resolved. I suppose I'll need to call tomorrow. At this point I'm going to request a refund for the past month+ and that I not be charged until the issue is resolved as my internet is essentially unusable.

Are you in Irvine? I'm in the Quail Hill area and can't get above 5 Mbps on the preferred plan using a docsis 3
