NomoRobo software won an award from FTC for their ability to manage ROBOCALLS. Many cable/phone providers are implementing NOMOROBO protection for their customers. See the list of providers at: www.nomorobo.com.
One way or another, I would like Cox Communication to protect me from ROBOCALLS.

Hi Imntary,
The ROBOCALL service uses a phone feature that we do not currently offer. If anything changes, it will be printed in your statement under the section News From Cox. I have forwarded your request to our Marketing Team for review.
The purpose of the Cox Phone Forum is to allow customers to discuss technical topics related to residential Cox Digital Telephone services with other customers. If you need help with billing or other account specific issues, or to submit a request, please reach us on Twitter at @CoxHelp, visit us on Facebook, or at cox.help@cox.com. Since this post isn't technical, I will locking this thread.

Stephanie,
That's really not much of an answer. First of all, Cox charges extra to allow customers the ability to block only 30 calls. As a major telecommunications provider, you already know that's insufficient as fraudulent callers constantly change their numbers. I've blocked 30 numbers - all coming from Rachel from Card Member Services, yet she somehow manages to get through with a whole new number! And why you felt the need to copy/paste the blurb about what the purpose of the Cox Phone Forum is for escapes logic. It's almost as if you're chiding Imntary when in fact his/her complaints are being posted in the right location.
So explain what services ROBOCALL uses that you do not offer? I notice you said "offer" rather than something along the lines of "ROBOCALL is not compatible with our designs", which of course would likely also be inaccurate (by the way, it's "NOMOROBO").
Look, the problem of unwanted calls is so prevalent that the FTC themselves opened up a contest to solicit the best possible solution. Unwanted calls are so prevalent that national news organizations have reported on it. Unwanted calls are so prevalent that lawsuits are continually filed by individuals, class actions, attorney generals, etc.
At what point will Cox give their paying customers what they really want? Your archaic selective call rejection is a joke. As I said, it only holds 30 numbers. Aside from that, the steps involved are ridiculously long and make little sense. Heck, you can't even make it into a web-accessible product, which really boggles the mind when you have apps that let people set up DVR recordings from their smart phones! How hard can it be? I mean, you charge for this service, you'd think you'd make it even slightly more easier to use!
Cox, you need to either greatly improve your fee-based call rejection or get onboard with NOMOROBO. I am tired of getting a dozen calls each week from Rachel at Card Member Services telling me each time this is my final notice, or calls from "Bob" with a heavy Indian accent telling me my computer has alerted Microsoft Corp that it's causing problems and "Bob" needs me to allow him access to fix it, or calls from anyone else I don't want to hear from.

It is ludicrous that Cox doesn't support Nomobo. We pay top dollar for our internet, phone and cable.
Between the ever rising rates and BS like this, I'm ready to switch providers.

www.donotcall.gov Customers can register their telephone numbers at the National Do Not Call Registry to be added to the do not call list: 1-888-382-1222.
Anonymous Call Rejection Customers can use this feature to reject calls from anyone who has blocked their telephone number so customers cannot see the number on their Caller ID. With Anonymous Call Rejection, any caller who has blocked their number from the customer’s Caller ID display will hear an announcement that the customer does not accept anonymous calls, and that they must remove the blocking and then call back. All other calls will ring through as usual.
Note: Anonymous Call Rejection is an a la carte feature that can be subscribed to on a monthly basis.
Selective Call Acceptance Customers can decide which calls they will accept.
Note: Selective Call Acceptance is included in the Cox Digital Telephone Premier package.
Selective Call Rejection Customers can program their phone to reject calls from any number they place in the rejection list.
Note: Selective Call Rejection is included in the Cox Digital Telephone Premier package.
I hope this information helps.

Why pay for a service like this when most of the telephone #'s calling are fake. I even get my own telephone number and 000-000-0000 calling me. I cannot block either of these. These robo callers change their telephone CID # faster than we can look it up to find out if it's a legit # or a scammer/telemarketer.
Cox just needs to get the simultaneous ring feature and add the Nomorobo option. It's the most viable option to satisfy your clients nationwide.

I have two Cox phone numbers (home and home-business) and am seriously considering switching back to AT&T because I find the Cox approach to robocall blocking totally unacceptable. This is why:
1. Blocking individual robocall numbers is virtually useless because robocallers simply rotate their outgoing call numbers. This is like telling someone in an insect infested building to just keep killing them one at a time.
2. Listening to a robocall and then pressing a number (usually 9) either doesn't work or the number of robocall firms is infinite - probably a little both.
What Cox needs to provide is a system similar to email spam filtering. While a system such as NomoRobo may not be perfect, it seems to be the best approach yet developed, per FTC evaluation.
So, listen up Cox Customer Service. You are going to start losing telephone customers at an accelerating rate if you don't implement an acceptable automatic system for blocking most robocalls and do it soon.
Personally, I'll stay with Cox for my phone provider for another few months to give you time to develop and/or implement an automated solution, but will switch from Cox to a different phone company before the end of the summer is I don't see (hear) something implemented.

Well, Cox, this IS a technical problem as far as most of us are concerned. Robo calls have made my Cox line useless. I dont even pick up that phone any more and keep it only for the possibility of needing 911 calls and calling local retailers if I need to without them 'capturing' my other number. A 33 year customer deserves something better and without adding charges to every little thing. The whole package is ridiculously expensive as it is and those of us who have become elderly during our time with you are being priced out of the market because of our low fixed incomes which is not your problem but your ridiculously high rates with no positive benefits are. It is time to move on I think. Customer service doesn't exist for the most part (I did recently have a good experience - the first I can remember in many years). Protecting your customers from robo calls should be a basic service from your provider.

Let me add my frustration with Cox not making Nomorobo available. It's apparently a useful tool, works as advertised, but is not supported by Cox. I would like to hear from someone from Cox IF they plan to make their system compatible with Nomorobo and, if so, WHEN.
