No tv guide function when I press guide on UEI URC-8820-Cisco remote provided by Cox

In many cases it is necessary to press the Cable button on the remote first to switch it into cable receiver mode before pressing the guide button.  Please try that and let us know what happens.

Yes that is correct. It's good to know how to make that function work.  I actually have an as yet unanswered question on this forum regarding an elderly persons difficulty entering 4 digit numbers (for what were previously single or double digit channels before digital...5 is now 2005 etc).  After the tv kept showing error messages or would fail to turn off correctly a special emphasis was made to tell him that in order to turn the tv on and off he must be sure the tv button at the top is pressed. But to have to remember to press the cable button and then switch it back to tv every time the guide is used is sure to lead to unneeded confusion. It seems that basic function should work when the remote is in tv mode since in this mode the remote is already communicating with the cable box as it changes channels.

The reason for this behavior is the guide button actually performs a function on newer TVs with digital ATSC tuners.  With that in mind having the guide button automatically override to box function only might cause problems in those situations.

The TV that's being used is only a few weeks old.  Having to switch the function buttons back and forth to use a guide will likely lead to either it not being used or confusion (by technically challenged people). Actually the very small print on the remotes keys are a problem by themselves. Is there a universal remote with bigger keys that covers the Cox Cable Box and Panasonic TV's function (without the dvr buttons)?

You might be able to find something available retail but the remotes we offer are very similar in form and function.
