I recently got the Preferred Internet package (15+ MBPS). I live in an older apartment where there is only one coax port. Thus, for me to get internet AND TV, I must use a splitter. When I connect my Motorolla SurfBoard DOCSIS 3.0 Modem to the wall itself, I get internet and get it stongly (speed test registered almost a 20 MBPS). However when I connect it to a splitter (1-2 way or a 1-4 way), I get none. Is the reason of no internet through the splitter a hardware issue with the splitter, my modem, or the speed of service? Would a coax amplifier help? I'm just trying to get internet AND watch TV simultaneously and I only have one coax port in my apartment. Thanks!

What are your signal levels without the splitter? Can be found here. How does the wire get from the pole to your apartment? What access do you have to the wiring?

Also want to make sure it's a full-range, 5 to 1000 MHz splitter, and the cables being used on both sides are of good quality.
But keep in mind that without a subscription to a TV package, reception of any TV channels is not supported, so you may not need a splitter. Just saying that in general.
