New remote control

Hi, you may  need to set the remote to the cable box. The instruction are on the back of the remote and are tied into the brand of cable box you have: Motorola or Scientific Atlanta (SA).  If that does not work then check to see which button lights up when you press the DVR List button: TV, Cable, or nothing lights up at all?

If TV lights up, press the Cable button and try the DVR List button again. If the Cable button lights up, but you still don't see the DVR List come up, try swapping out the batteries for fresh ones. If you still do not see a DVR List come up, try power cycling the cable box by unplugging the power cord for two minutes, then plug it back in, let the box fully reset, and try the remote again. If you still do not see the DVR list come up, replace the remote. If nothing lights up on the remote when you press the DVR List button: replace the batteries, and /or reset the cable box as described previously. If that does not work replace the remote.
