new led lcd tv

I just purchased a new tv.  I only have cox essential so i have no box.   When I auto scan, it will not scan the digital channels.  just cable /auto/analog.   It has a digital tuner.   My other smaller tv (when scanned, did scan the digital channels).  I've checked the cables in the living room and everythings is ok.  Frustrated!  Hope someone can help.  thanks.

Is this the first time you're using the cable outlet for the new TV?  It may not be connected to the main feed, or it may not be connected with a digital splitter.  Remove the wall plate of the main feed to investigate what's connected, not connected or improperly split.

There are also two different types of digital tuners and many TVs don't do both.  When a TV references having a digital tuner it's normally referring an ATSC digital tuner which allows you to tune over the air digital TV signals.  Channels on the cable network are delivered via digital QAM technology.  This type of tuner is not required to be installed in new TVs therefore this feature can vary by make/model.  I'd suggest checking the documentation to see if you can find a digital QAM tuner referenced.  If it does indeed have one you may have to experiment with the signal type such as antenna, cable, etc. in order to find the right type.

What is the model number of your TV? You may be scanning incorrectly, or your TV only has a digital tuner that works on OTA ATSC (8VSB) digital signals, not QAM digital signals (used by cable.)
