Moving the modem to a different room.

Hi, I would like to move the modem to a different room so that i can hard wire my xbox to the router. When I connect the modem to the coaxial cable in that room, the modem does not work. Is this because there is a filter on that room possibly? The room I want the modem in has a cable fed through a wall, the room  where the modem is currently working has an outlet to attach a cable. Can someone tell me if a technician would be able to make this possible? Thanks

Probably. No one, not even a Cox employee, would be able to tell you that with certainty without seeing your house and how it is wired first. Is the coax even RG6? Should say on the cable itself. Its not a matter of removing a filter, but rather getting enough signal to that room. You have a fixed amount of signal coming in your house, so its all about balancing it between the different outlets, so each one gets enough signal without taking too much from the others.
