Motorola SB6120 modem software upgrade by Cox
Recently, I noticed that my Motorola SB6120 modem received a software upgrade from the Cox network. Is it safe to assume that this is merely a standard firmware update and the modem could, in the future, be moved to another Cox-served location in a nearby city without any compatibility issues? Thanks.

Firmware updates are usually pretty standard and compatible across all systems. In situations where a certain system has unique requirements the modem is automatically changed per the system's requirements.
