I bought a new modem for our internet connection. How do we go about hooking it up? Do we need to contact cox in order to hook it up?

No, as long as it's a Cox approved modem, see here, just connect it and it should step you through adding it to your account. If you run into problems, yes, you will have to call Cox support.

Hi, if you run into any issues with the self registration, you may call in to tech support, or we can assist you with the setup. If you would like for us to add the modem to your account, please contact us at cox.help@cox.com with the brand name, model number, and MAC address for the modem. The modem must be on our approved list of modems. Send us the name of the primary account holder and the complete home address. **Please do not publish any personal information in this public forum**

If you do run into problems and have to call, be sure to unplug the modem before calling in. There are two systems you can use, the customer one or the employee one. If Cox tries to use the employee one while the customer one is running, it can get stuck.
