I'm about to move outside the COX service area and am trying to figure out if I can take my modem with me, or if it belongs to COX. When I called to cancel they said to bring the cable card and modem with me, but there's NO CHARGE on my monthly bill for the modem. This makes me think that I bought it outright at the start.
Is there anywhere on my account (online, bill, etc.) where I can get a definitive answer?

What kind of modem is it? If its any kind of phone modem like a DPQ3212, then its Cox's for sure. Thats because they only sell them to ISP, and Cox doesn't sell them. If you have a Motorola modem, you can go into your account details online where it lists your equipment. If the modem's model number begins with a R, then its retail(customer owned).
Another thing to check is if the ISP you will be using allows retail modems. Some don't.

Good call, it is one of the phone ones. I wonder why there's no charge on my bill though.
Regardless, thanks, this answers my question. Back to COX it goes!
