Modem keeps rebooting

I have to admit that in two years of having Cox, we have only had one all-day outage and that was caused by squirrels, so I've been happy with the consistency of the service, if not the speed.

Now suddenly my modem is constantly rebooting, which is bad because I work online and need a constant connection. I'll be downloading something from work and suddenly, the modem reboots and I lose what I'm downloading and have to start over. It usually doesn't last but a minute, but when you're almost done downloading a large PDF and lose your connection, it can be a big problem.

I have a Netgear N450 modem, and I'm a complete luddite when it comes to devices, so don't ask me technical questions about it. I'm going tomorrow to get a new modem just in case, but I don't think that's it. Aside from the speed issues, this modem has been pretty good, and I don't think it's the speed culprit either, because I get the same speed when I'm plugged directly into it (32-35Mbps out of 50Mbps I'm paying for).  I truly believe Cox is capping my speed because I have a special deal for a year, but I'm stuck, since Cox is the only cable game in town.

Anyway, I'd like to know if there is anything I can do in the meantime to fix this issue.

@angelpie

You can definitely try swapping the modem to see if that helps.  Let us know if you still have any problems afterwards.
