Miniboxes in Macon having activation issues

Could Cox please get their act together in Macon?  I spent all afternoon yesterday trying to get my mini box activated.  According to the Cox tech support, they are being flooded with calls all with the same problem in Macon?

I had exactly the same problem yesterday trying to help my older neighbor who has only the basic cable package. I am old

myself but have successfully activated 2 boxes at my house about 3 weeks ago, but this box my neighbor has just keeps failing a required software update, just stayed in an endless loop of trying and failing, I assume because it won't activate.

Finally gave up. What gives, Cox? Should we continue to try? They said no service after the 5th of January which is almost upon us.

No error code; a Cox rep will be out Wednesday, as of now she has no signal, even straight from the wall outlet (what she used before the mini box)
