Menu - really?

Customer service is telling me there is no way to be able to identify from the 3000 channels on the menu which ones you get...but they will send me a piece of paper showing all the ones I get so I can what, cross reference??? Really? Cox is WAY too big a firm to have this kind of bug in their process - and if it is meant to tease people into adding channels, that sure backfired with me since I'm considering going elsewhere based on the fact it takes me 30 minutes to find channels I get, and that I want to watch, and that are in HD.... Layer on that I get this breakdown in the picture/sound with a pop up, channel temporarily unavailable 2 or 3 times a minute....is providing cable really that complicated for COX? UGGGGGGGG

Yes, it is. The guide data doesn't pull from your account, but a general database. You seeing all the channels isn't a glitch, it's the way the system functions. If you know of a technical method to do what you are proposing, please present it.

It's just another fly-by rant, Teck.

According to the most recent data the average household watches but 17 out of 189 channels available to them. In the last ten years the offerings have gone up but the number actually watched has remained constant.

When one signs up for TV service they are offered a variety of packages with varying channel lineups. I would suspect that most folks would review the different lineups to make an informed decision before selecting a package.

Therefore, one should already know what channels are available to them.

It is, however, extremely tiresome to have to scroll through 3000 channels in the Skip preference menu and put a check mark next to the 2983 of them that will never be watched or simply aren't available. At first setup it would appear to be the only way.

The alternative is to make a direct channel entry from the remote, make the channel a favorite, do that for all the channels watched or wanted in the guide, in the Guide>Setup menu choose Custom>Show Favorites (and uncheck all other choices)>Use Always.

Only those channels will show in the guide and scroll when using the channel up/down function. It's not overly complicated and only has to be done once.

Are you guys kidding me - a rant? You are a bunch of propeller heads that sit around and explain to customers defensively why they shouldn't have consumer preferences simply because you don't know how to do it. "Suggest a way to do it" is what your IT idiot responds - last time I checked I was the client and YOU were the one charged with IT solutions. " Another rant" - well I seem to be in very good company judging by the number of comments complaining of the same frustration with your system. And the person that talks about how in aggregate consumers only watch 17 channels and therefore we should just execute a workaround, which by the way does not work the way you have described it. Try it. Look - wake up. The customer is always right. You may be 22 and have never heard that concept so let me introduce you. Second, consider customer feedback an opportunity, or heaven forbid, a challenge to solve an issue and earn some cudo's from your associates and feel the satisfaction that comes from accepting constructive feedback like an adult and responding constructively. Again. Try it. I will be following up with your corporate relations team along with whatever senior managers I can get my hands on as if the associates in my organization handled things in this manner, I would consider it a training opportunity - or an opportunity to prune the low hanging fruit.

Hahaha. I stopped reading there.  Find something better to do then create angry rants and insult people. It's spring. Get some fresh air. It will help.

BTW. Did you think I was a Cox employee? Do you even know the forum you are posting on?
