Local channels

I installed the mini box on a secondary TV several months ago and it worked fine until yesterday morning.  Now, when I turn on my TV, I am unable to access local channels.  All other channels appear to be there.

Any idea why the local channelsdisappeared?   I can still access them on my primary TV where the main cable box is connected.

We are having the same problem - what is going on?

I almost can guarantee that it is related to the recent change to encrypt the local channels, too, in addition to basic, expanded, etc. cable channels. Cox probably remapped those channels to different frequencies, and your mini-box does not have the new mapping (yet). I don't have a mini-box, but this looks like the procedure to re-scan for channels: http://www.cox.com/residential/support/tv/article.cox?articleId=e3fe7a30-52f8-11e4-5b63-000000000000 If that does not work, you probably need to contact tech support for help. (I have a Media Center PC and had to re-run TV signal setup and choose a different Cox Digital Cable entry to pick up the new mappings for local channels.)

Hi DanK and Wakenn,

I apologize for the delay in our reply. Are you able to access all of your channels at this time? The suggestion provided by HTPC_Guy is correct. Running a channel scan on each mini box should restore the channels. Please let us know if either of you are still missing channels!

Ran the scan.  No luck.

NBC, ABC, CBS, and FOX  are either missing or have been replaced.

When should I give up and switch providers?

Call the Cox digital number and see if the miniboxes are "attached" to your account. I had the same problem until the Cox rep did his back-room magic. This enabled the missing channels on one of my miniboxes and a scan then worked on another box.

BTW, meaningless threats to switch providers don't help you at all!

I have this same issue.  Although I have 3 mini boxes and2 work fine, one does NOT receive the local ABC 7, NBC 4, CBS 9 and FOX 5 - For the Washington DC area . Seems ODD to me that 2 miniboxes work and 1 does NOT.  I'll try the procedure listed below ....

Hi CitadelBlue,

I replied to your post on a different thread. If running a channel scan on the mini box (http://bit.ly/MiniBoxChScan) doesn't restore all your channels, please let us know!
