Packet Loss and Latency from Cox Server in Las Vegas NV
The 4th hop alternates between 24.234.6.254 and 24.234.6.250 (ptp.lvcm.net)
(only the last digit is different)
EDIT: Cox has tried using only the address that ends in zero for about 6 minutes at a time twice now that
I noticed and both times all the problems went away!
At this hop I get about 20% packet loss. (Loss extends to all hops below here also)
When I ping 24.234.6.254 it shows extreme latency about 1/4 to 1/2 the time and is only fast about 1/10 of the time.
When I ping 24.234.6.250 it is usually fast.
Can I have Cox force my route to use 24.234.6.250 ???
Thank You.
Can I have Cox force my route to use 24.234.6.250 ???
Some sites use this address(24.234.6.254) and do not drop packets.
Other sites that use this address do drop packets.
Its as if some sites are directed through a defective area of this address and others through only good areas.
There is no randomness.
If a site uses a bad portion of this address, it will do so in the future.
If a site uses only the good portion/s of this address, it will never use the bad portion/s in the future.
Thank you

Yes seems to be something effecting a lot of people. I was fine until Saturday when everything (cable/phone/internet) went down for 3 hours. Now my internet is crawling slow and I have phone service on and off. TV is working fine so one small thing.

I am having a lot of latency issues when I am trying to access anything on the internet. Pages will load fine and then all the sudden I feel like I am on dial up again. I did upgrade my modem a little while ago. I saw on the forums other customers had issues once they had switched over and I am hoping mine is a similar and easy fix.

Anybody heard anything from Cox as far as when they will be able to fix this problem? Tried to get into their phone support but the wait is long as well. They just tell you on automated voice announcement that there is a problem (obviously) but does not tell anything else.

I read on the World of Warcraft Forum that many here in the Vegas area are having the same issues and that it is supposedly to do with some Cisco Routers and Cox is having Cisco techs come out soon. /fingers crossed!

YES, me too in the Henderson area. Started Saturday morning, still getting severe pings and packet loss to a large number of sites and other services (such as my bank).
Getting to the point where I intend to ask for compensation.

Im actually in the middle of asking how compensation will work, usually what you do is you call in , and then call in again after everything is fixed so they can credit you for time without service for those days.
*edit* Need to call in for TWS credit, id call in advanced once so theres notation on the account about the issue, and call again when the issue is resolved for credit from friday till whenever this is fixed.
May sound petty but I mean for me that 4.25 a day lol...

Basically no internet for three days. How can such a major company not have redundant systems.

Yup, 20% packet loss and horrible network jitter for three days now. Zero communications or updates from Cox.

I know I am surprised someone from tech support isn't on here saying what is going on and if there is any ETA on when this will be fixed. They are always able to fix the issues quickly and 3 days is a LONG time for this to be going on. I'm glad I came on here to see other people having the same issue. I felt like I was going nuts resetting my modem/router at my end and the people on the phone were really angry about helping.
