Depends on how your connecting to the modem. Are you wired direct or going through a router?

Also, what speeds are you getting? If stuck at exactly 32Mbps, its probably a wrong code on your account.

bypassed my router and plugged directly in

i was super excited to get it up and running, lol

AaronDM4, the information for the modem was showing a older service code, it should be updated now if you want to test the speeds again let us know if you still have issues.

I have the same modem and I'm not getting the same speed as advertised. I have the premier which should be 50Mbp but I am only seeing 16Mbps. How can I get the 50Mbps speed?

Modem: RGI6141

If your getting 16Mbps, then its not likely to be the same problem. That problem has the specific symtom of capping your speed at 32Mbps.

Isn't Premier 100Mbps in all markets? Or did you mean you had Preferred?

Last, how are you connected to the modem? For testing purposes its best to connect wired direct into the SB6141.

Lai, the signal to the modem appear fine and the service codes are correct for the modem. The SB6141 does have a newer firmware available however if there is a time that works best for us to send that it can take 5 to 10 minutes to do so. Are you testing the speeds hardwired or through wireless?

Domino, the current version of firmware for the SB6141 is v1.0.6.14-SCM01. We can send the updated version there for you is there a time that works best? It will normally take about 10 minutes for it to fully load and come back up.

Does the modem need to be on? If not, anytime is OK. If it must be on, then any day between 2pm PST and 8pm PST is OK. Also, what does new firmware version accomplish?

Please advise.

Hi Domino,

The modem does need to be online for us to push the firmware to you. I have set a reminder to have this completed around 2 PM PST.

OK. Modem is on and ready. Thanks.

Hi Domino,

I have pushed the most recent firmware update to the modem. Firmware updates are normally pushed overnight. If you disconnect the modem, you may miss any automatic updates.

Thanks.

I use 7-outlet strips with individual power switches for each outlet. Modem gets switched off every night from 11pm until 11am the next morning. Not recommended?

Hi Domino,

Most modem maintenance is done overnight (firmware upgrades, service code changes, etc). If the modem is not powered on during this time, you may miss an important update that would have to be manually done. Are you turning off the power to the modem for security purchases, cost reasons, or is there a technical issue with your modem needing to be powered down every night?

Got into the habit due to SB5100 heating problems. I got much better performance from it when I left it un-powered when not in use. Since I have so much equipment that's always "on" (to a degree), I've discovered that powering down where possible saves me about $10/month.

How often do you send these overnight modem bullets?

Domino,

There isn't a set schedule. Honestly, it happens automatically whenever a new update is published. It might be beneficial to leave the modem powered on over night periodically.

I have the same 2012 firmware version identified above and would like to get the latest version supported by Cox. I called Cox support today and Shawn the CSR couldn't find anything newer than 2012 for this modem. If you could push the update out to me overnight that would be much appreciated.
