internet speed, disconnects and lag issues.
This is an ongoing issue that has never been resolved.
Every service person in the last 5 years have made the observation that the service was slow in this area.
Can we say DUH! ?
Even after making this observation nothing has been done to rectify the situation.
Here are the stats.
Standard internet connection
Surfboard SB6180 Modem.
All empirical data listed is thru a Compaq Presario XP system which is hardwired to said modem.
(I have had this same system connected to a competitors DSL line and have seen speeds over 10 times what I experience with Cox)
(Also have 2 newer Win7 laptops connected via Netgear WPN824 V2 Wireless which do not see any improvement in the aforementioned numbers.)
Using http://www.speedtest.net:
Download speed is almost never over 1mbps. The max I have seen is 1.4mbps
Upload speed is ~0.5mbps
Ping rate is rarely less than 0.4
My internet connection drops at least once a day:
date time
10mar2014 0534
11mar2014 2113
12mar2014 0527
13mar2014 unknown
15mar2014 1225
15/16mar2014 unknown
16mar2014 between 0645 and 1352
17mar2014 1739
In addition i have experienced download failures from trusted sites:
14mar2014 0234
18mar2104 1434
19mar2014 0234
In addition, for the past 2 to 3 days the lag on some sites (facebook.com/Kixeye.com, etc) has been unbearable.
The aforementioned instances have happened just in the last week. As previously stated this is an ongoing issue and has been happening for over 5 years.
This is what I'm supposed to be receiving, per my account listing on Cox's own web site.
"Internet speeds faster than DSL to support all of your wireless devices
FREE PowerBoost when you have the need for more speed
FREE Online Cloud Storage - access and share your photos, videos and files from anywhere, anytime
Up to 10 email addresses with plenty of space to send large files
Entertainment features like Music Choice Broadband and Nick Jr. Boost
Cox Security Suite Plus Powered By McAfee®"
In addition a recent ad lists "speeds of up to 7mbps".
I've come here as a last ditch effort.
I have seen Cox techies on here (COXVegas for one) that were able to fix issues others could not.
That is what I'd hope to see.
