I am in Roanoke, VA and on the Premier internet package, which was recently upgraded to 50 Mbps. So, I decided to get a Docsis 3.0 modem so that I can take advantage of the faster internet speeds. However, when I switched to the Motorola SB6141, my internet speeds actually went down, but my upload speeds went up. I have been getting about 12-15 down and up. Is there possibly a defect with my modem? Or is there something on Cox's side that needs to be updated so that we can take advantage of the higher speeds? I have read about others who had similar problems with this same modem, but theirs seemed to have been fixed somehow. Thanks!

I'm in Fairfax, VA and have noticed the same thing. Im currently on the preferred package, but with the Arris TM602G, i was getting 25Mpbs - 30Mbps up and over 3Mbps down. with the SB6141, im getting 19Mbps down and just under 2Mbps up. I'm planning on switching to the Premier but want to make sure the modem is performing at (or better than) the old DOCSIS 2.0 modem im swapping it out for.
current SB6141 settings are:
Vendor Name: Motorola
Firmware Name: SB_KOMODO-1.0.6.8-SCM01-NOSH
Boot Version: PSPU-Boot(25CLK) 1.0.12.18m3
Hardware Version: 7.0
Serial Number: XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Firmware Build Time: Aug 30 2012 15:35:46

I think we have two different issues here.
PCGamingNewbie, you had the "usual" problem of having the DOCSIS 2 Premier code, which I've updated to the one for DOCSIS 3. You should be testing better now.
novarit, your signal levels are off. I'd recommend basic wiring troubleshooting, but you're probably going to need a service call.
