I am using the router that was provided to me by Cox and it drops the internet every 20 minutes or so. We have to unplug it to reset it. Then it only lasts another 20 minutes before we have to start the process all over again.

I've had this issue for some time now. I recently bought a new modem (Motorola SB6141). The issue has mostly gone away. The connectivity still drops, but recovers in a couple minutes without having to reset the modem. This is still, however, unacceptable. There have been longer outages, like this morning, where there is nothing to do but wait. If I can find a new provider I would. I would even consider downgrading to DSL if that meant never dropping connections.

I was able to locate your account and view the modem signals, it appears they are out of spec. Do you have any splitters connected to the cable outlet? To correct this issue, it may require a technician visit.

If you are having intermittent connection issues that is something we need to look into. Have you had a technician come out to your home to investigate the connection issues that you have been experiencing?

Yes, I had a technician come out last Saturday. He came and replaced some wires and the connection stabilized. The connectivity issues were still happening, although to a lesser extent. I then went out and bought a new modem. The connection issues remained, but I did notice speed was improved with the new modem.

This is all from a wired computer. The modem itself does not have wireless. I can see the online and send lights turn off and the receive and link lights blinking. I've connected the computer directly to the cable modem and it does the same thing. As I mentioned earlier it has subsided somewhat, but still happens intermittently. It's tolerable, but not ideal.

Having the same exact issues as the OP. Model is dropping signal left and right with T3 and T4 errors.

From what I can see your router is changing channels also, looks like there was some interference. You may want to manually change the channel of your router to a different number (11+ recommended). I can also take a look at the signal levels, see if there are any issues on our end. Can you please e-mail us at cox.help@cox.com with the modem MAC address?

Derrick,
That was me manually changing the Channel to see if anything changed, it did not, I put it back to auto and it changed the channel once again.
The information you requested has been emailed.
Thanks

How do I get that modem information? I recently noticed a correlation in dropped connections and uploads. The connection would drop if I was uploading at full bandwidth. In particular when using 'rsync'. When I limit the upload bandwidth, the connection seems to be stable. Download speeds depreciate, but the connection does not drop. I don't see why this would be a problem, but it's reproducible.

You mean the kind of data that Fitz posted above? On your Motorola modems, that's found by going to http://192.168.100.1 and selecting "logs". But it will tell you what we're seeing, that you're getting occasional timeouts of various types.
Those are generally caused by interfering signal noise of one type or another, most often on the upstream frequencies, and at this point if you've already done the troubleshooting we recommend, and already had a service call, then our next step would be to put in a repeat service call to escalate the issue.

I am also having this issue. I get a lag spike (on upload/transmit), and my connection completely drops. The modem does reconnect, but it's a serious pain to deal with this situation.

When I look at your connection from this end the signal levels don't look very good at all, just barely within specification. It may be beneficial to arrange for a technician to come out and troubleshoot further.

I am having connection issues with my new internet service with Cox. In the cold attic my internet connection works near the router but with poor connection. If I move my computer downstairs into the bedroom or kitchen I no longer have internet at all. This is starting to be a pain. I am a new customer and I am unhappy with the internet service only. Please help

Could you try testing the connection without the router in place and see if you continue to experience problems? Also if the equipment is in an unfinished attic it would probably be best to bring it into a space with climate control.

Hi, something is going on with Cox internet connections. We have had 3 days of the connection "bouncing" off and back on every morning, just enough to knock out our Magic Jack. It is very irritating to say the least. I called and talked to Cox today and they said "no problems reported in my area", yet I have 3 close neighbors, Cox customers that were also having the same problems the last 3 days. They wanted me to have a tech come out and check for problems, but if 3 other neighbors are also having the same problem, why do that and take the chance I will get charged for it? We are probably going to have to change providers if "no problem in the area" isn't acknowledged and fixed soon. I am also getting weary of resetting everything twice or more times every day.
