how to delete On Demand Recently Viewed items

You cannot erase/delete the recently viewed VOD selections in Contour. I suggest you assign different users accounts for you and the kids.

The viewing history you attempted to clear was the RECOMMENDATIONS viewing history. A different animal, completely.

Has there been any progress made in finding a way to delete the "Recently Viewed" list in OnDemand? I am having my dvr boxes swapped out tomorrow and want my viewing history to be private as it should be.

Sorry I haven't updated this but yes. I found a solution or work around while on the phone with tech support  I suggested for them to remove my subscription for the premium channel and when they did Those recently viewed programs were no longer listed. Only catch is that you will lose any promotional prices because they are not able to just remove a premium channel from your subscription and add it back. So my final solution was to cancel my whole subscription. The next thing to do now is cancel my whole tv subscription with cox and try another provider. I urge others to do the same.

Dumping Cox because your kids might see what naughty movies you watched. OK...

I had my DVR boxes swapped out and the On Demand Recently Watched list did not get cleared. This can only mean that Cox is keeping our viewing history on their servers linked with our accounts. This appears to be a violation of their privacy policy which says that they only keep anonymized   data on viewing history.

I wonder if just un-provisioning and re-provisioning the box would do it, or just removing the box and adding it back on. That would unassigned the service from the box the same way canceling service. Also, wouldn't Cox have to keep a record of what movies you watched in their system in order to bill you at the end of the month?

  Yes. Because I dont want my kids or minors to view explicit material only to be acted out in school or for them to imitate the acts on these shows meant for adults. Cox not allowing us to keep obscene material away from minors is child exposure to inappropriate sexual content. Lets say friends of my minor are over and stumble across my OnDemand viewing of Cinemax adult programing, which im not able to delete so that minors cannot view sexually explicit programming, makes me in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 1468- Distributing obscene material by cable or subscription television or 18 U.S.C. § 1470- Transfer of obscene material to minors. And lets say if the parents of the other minors press charges that I violated code 18 U.S.C. § 1468 and 18 U.S.C. § 1470 then im screwed. But Cox does not allow for me the opportunity to keep such material away from minors. So yes, this is a big issue.

But they can't view the explicit material. They can only see that you viewed the explicit material. Or are you saying that material in the "Recently Viewed" section isn't protected from viewing by Contour's parental controls?

Both of my DVR boxes were taken out and replaced with a new DVR box, yet the "Recently Watched" list did not clear. This tells me that the Recently Watched information is kept on Cox's server.  Cox would only have to keep a record of Pay Per View shows watched for billing-much of On Demand is not PPV-so there is no billing reason for Cox to keep a record of what was watched if it is not PPV.

Given Cox seems to have another flaw or missing feature in their interactive Contour guide, and we have learned that temporarily canceling the premium channel and adding it back WILL clear these items from the recently watched on-demand list, I don't see why Cox wouldn't DO THE RIGHT THING FOR THEIR CUSTOMERS and simply remove and add-back the premium channel without charging some EXTRA service change fee or WAIVING special discount rate.

If only the Cox management would think about what it's like to be a customer rather than trying to squeeze out an extra dollar or two here and there.

WE have CHOICES in our TV/Internet providers. Cox can earn customer LOYALTY by doing the RIGHT THING and then these loyal customers will NOT be so sensitive to the ongoing price increases. This isn't difficult to understand.
