I'm having a house built in a new subdivision in Peoria, AZ. I'm still a couple of months from moving in but the house next to mine looks move in ready, so I would expect some initial work at least to be done for the area. There's a Century Link box in my front yard and I've see their trucks a few times in the neighborhood doing their installation work. The literature for the subdivision shows that Cox will be a provider for the neighborhood but when I've called Cox they show nothing and the promised call backs never occur. I've been a happy Cox customer and don't want to be pushed to Century Link because Cox is slow at getting stuff done. Is there any way I can find out if and when Cox service will be available in the area?

I checked both Centurylink and Cox for service in the Peoria AZ area, and Centurylink came up negative, and Cox came up positive, so it would seem to be Cox's area. I also found a channel lineup for Cox for that area. However, if your seeing Centurylink equipment and trucks, that would seem like its Centurylink. I don't think Cox and Centurylink can co-exsist, and I doubt Centurylink would be fixing Cox lines.
Could you give more info on the literature for the subdivision? Is there any contact numbers in it? Also, try asking the person/group you got it from, since I would imagine they would know the details.

In Peoria we have both Century Link and Cox and can choose either to provide phone, internet and television.
I've been told by Cox that it is in the Cox service area. I just don't know when they are going to start building their infrastructure in the area as it seems that Century Link has already starting doing so.

Ahh, that might explain it. I didn't know they could do that. Learn something new every day.
I would start with the material you were given. Who gave it to you? Most likly they(or someone in that group) is already in communications with Cox and has a rough timeline. If thats a dead end, then I think you would need to contact "Serviceability".I only mention the real name because it sounds like your having a hard time contacting the right people. If your calling technical support, or even normal sales, if its not in their system yet, they won't know anything about it. Serviceability are the group who actually go out there, see if/how the area can be serviced, and puts the locations into the computer systems.
Maybe you can contact one of the moderators here too. They might be able to explain it better then I can. Good luck.

We can submit a Serviceability form to our Scouting Team to get a status update. Please email me at cox.help@cox.com and include the address, subdivision name, closest intersection, directions to get there, your name, and a contact number.

I was the 4th person to move into my new subdivision in Phoenix,
The builder had installed the conduit and it took Cox almost 1 year to install their infrastructure, It will probably depend on how many homes are occupied and request service before Cox feels that it is cost effective to start building out.
CenturyLink was already up and running, so I had to go with them the first year.
YMMV

How close were you to existing neighborhoods?
My house is backed up to an existing neighborhood so I'm hoping that it won't take them a year. All the houses in my new neighborhood come prewired with Cat 5 and Coax. I would hate to think that Cox would prefer to just hand over likely buyers to Centurylink like that. My internet speed would drop from 150 to 40 at best, I would have to give up my Tivo service that I have had since 1999 (upgraded the box a few times but have had Tivo service continuously since then). Would not be happy to lose service for even a little while. Grrrrrrr.

There was a large, older townhouse complex, right across the street, that had Cox. But there were no other subdivisions within about a mile of mine.
