Hooking Cisco 3212 to Netgear N450 / CG3000Dv2 for wifi ... Please ..!!!
I'm subscribed to Cox Preferred package in Phoenix, currently using Cisco 3212 Modem and all systems ( wired internet, home phone line & T.V.) are all working FINE. I'm now trying to get wifi in my place and just got a Netgear N450 / CG3000Dv2 (which don't have ports for my home phone line). I've tried multiple ways (please believe me cause it's been 3 nights) of trying to hook up my Cisco 3212 Modem to my Netgear N450 and could not get internet through wifi signal.
I GIVE UP ... Call Me Stupid or Call Me What you want... It's O.K. ... I give up ... Please help me in hooking up my Cisco 3212 to my Netgear N450 / CG3000Dv2 so I can get internet through wifi while keeping my home phone line working.
I hope to have some better sleep & peace of mind SOON ....!!!

You can't hook those 2 devices together. They both contain a cable modem, the 3212 is a modem+telephone adapter and the CG3000 is a modem+router. Since both contain a modem they won't work together.
What you want is a stand alone router to work with your current 3212. Hopefully you can return the CG3000. A router will have an Ethernet WAN port which connects to the yellow Ethernet port on your 3212. You can get stand alone routers anywhere from $30 to around $300. Get the best your budget can afford. Minimum is should have Gigabit Ethernet ports. For maximum speed, you want dual band (if you have 5GHz devices) and 802.11ac support, again depending on budget. Check Amazon and Newegg, they both have good selections or routers and plenty of user reviews. Just make sure it's a router only, it doesn't contain a cable modem too.
