Finding and recording a future broadcast of a show in progress

Hi!

I'm a new Cox and Contour 6x user, and a former direcTV subscriber. As expected, I feel frustrated not to find the features I'm used to, and the manual I received at installation is pretty flimsy. Is there a document that describes more thoroughly Countour's features?

One first specific question:

- browsing the guide a find a show in progress i'm interested in

- how do I find the next runs of this same show, without having to go through the general "search" name typing?

Thanks

140523,

The PDF Guide is at http://media.cox.com/support/print_media/tv/interface/general/Cox-Trio-Guide.pdf

For your quest for next airing of that same show (without using the SEARCH function), try changing the guide to the LIST view, and you can quickly scroll through the next two weeks of programming for that channel. Left window will list your channels, center window will list program schedule for JUST the selected channel, and right window will give details for the highlighted program. Try it.

With Contour

Isn't there an easy function to view all upcoming episodes of a particular series?

Yes, the search function. But the OP stated his desire for another method.

On direcTV's guide, when you click on "info" you have an option "other showings" that will display only that program's future showings, so you can select which one you want to record.

Another question, if you're so kind:

- Is it possible to set each tuner on a different program, on live tv, and then switch among them? If you try to do the same thing through recording, once the recording program ends the tuner doesn't stay on the same channel, I assume.

Dunno. I doubt it. What does the "LAST" button on the remote do? I doubt if you can load the 6 tuners with specific channels for "live" viewing.

140523,

The last and Swap buttons currently only navigate between the first 2 tuners. There is currently no option to set each tuner to a different channel.

You should look into a TiVo Roamio, Roamio Plus or Pro, and get a CableCARD from Cox,  It can do everything you are asking for and much more, you do lose OnDemand if that is important to you.  But most of that can be obtained through HuluPlus, HBOGo and Showtime Anytime

The LiveTV button on the TiVo remote swaps through all tuners, or you can press Info and scroll down to see what is currently on each tuner and select another tuner to watch if you choose.

I found a way to do kind of what I asked about:

- tuned on the show in progress

- click 'guide'

- click 'guide' again to change mode

- click 'right' to 'browse related'

- click 'right' and select 'additional episodes' if series, or 'related ...' to see future showings of non-series
