External HD on new 6 tuner DVR ? eSata drive or USB drive ?

I want / need to xfer recordings to an external drive so I can watch my recordings while I am on the road. Many times I have less than perfect internet service so having my shows on an external drive would be great. I know that DISH charges an activation fee to turn on that ext drive feature..grrrr. Hopefully Cox offers this and at no charge. Lastly, which is used.. an Esata drive or an USB drive??

We wouldn't be able to support taking your service outside your home, since that goes into legal copyright and infringment laws

I can give you information on our SATA ports. Most of our Motorola models have the port active as do our Cisco models. The port is only active on our Scientific Atlantic 8300 models. These ports are active for all customers with these models at no extra charge.

The USB port is not active. It does carry power and I use it from time to time to charge my cell phone.

I'm not sure where StephanieA is, but if she's in Las Vegas then she's misinformed about only the SA 8300 models having an active eSATA port. I got an SA Explorer 8240HDC a week ago from COX here in Vegas and I now have an external eSATA 2TB drive recording on it.
