I have not been able to get my outlook to connect to the cox mail server now for 24 hours. I can log in on the web site to my email fine but when I attempt to log in with Outlook it cannot find the server. Was there an update on Sunday night. I was able to log in with Outlook on Sunday Morning.

I'd suggest for starters checking your account settings to see if Outlook is setup as per http://www.cox.com/residential/support/internet/article.cox?articleId=a8fb24c0-6440-11df-ccef-000000000000  If it's specifically saying the server cannot be located and the server names are correct you may want to try temporarily disabling any firewall you have running and/or testing without the router to see if that helps.
