email seems to be down. Mine stalls at sending password in my email app and on my phone. Webmail interface is absent when logging in. I have not contacted support to confirm. I will just give it a while. I'm sure it will be no more than a few hours.

I can't get my email today either, here in Phoenix. My normal machine doesn't work (XP Pro). Another machine (Win7 Pro) with email configured the same way doesn't work. I also tried one of those "get your email online" sites on the internet. No joy there either. In every case it says "can't connect to POP3 server".
I'll try again later. Since others here are having the same problem I think there's a failure with the Cox servers.
I went to a "Ask Cox a question" site and after I entered all the info it said it could help for $38!!! That's almost what my internet connection costs per month! I doubt they could help anyway so I don't recommend using them for this problem, at least not today.

Everything seems good currently in RI. Can send and receive, both client and webmail, POP and IMAP. Pop was a little slow to update though.

Cox customer in Phoenix, AZ
Seems to be a problem with the WEST servers. Cox has the country split between WEST, CENTRAL/EAST (C & E are combined) (so out west we're SMTP.WEST.COX.NET and POP.WEST.COX.NET) so it is entirely likely that the issue is only in one region.
The west servers respond to Ping but that doesn't mean much, as it could be a router or firewall device responding.
This is new within the past few hours, as email has been up all day as recently as 3:30pm (Pacific).

I would suggest changing your pop3 server settings to pop.east.cox.net then if your in the AZ area effected, but only as a temporary work-around. Can anyone confirm if IMAP is effected too?

Hi, everybody.
Yes, we did have an issue with the email system on the West Coast for a while there. Some of the storage servers for western accounts were inaccessible making POP/IMAP unavailable and causing Webmail to show a blank inbox.
SMTP is a separate server so outgoing mail still worked, and a few of the storage servers remained accessible so some customers weren't affected.
Incoming mail is held on a temporary server during cluster outages, so no mail was lost, though customers may notice a minor delay in messages that arrived during the outage and some minor performance issues while everyone hits the servers at once now that they're back up.
Sorry for the inconvenience, everyone!
