Thank you for posting a great example of a phishing email. In general, any email you receive requesting personal information is likely to be some form of fraud. It is an unfortunate reality that thieves and hackers continuously bombard the in-boxes of Internet users with fraudulent email. Cox employs the latest technology and methods to filter potentially destructive email from reaching our customers; however, some still gets through. Customers should never provide username and password information via email to anyone, even it the email looks like it is coming from your bank, credit card company, or any online account.

The biggest clue in this example is the email address coxxtteam@gmail.com. Emails from Cox will almost always be from @cox.com. You can help us combat spam of this sort by sending this email to phishingreport@cox.net AS AN ATTACHMENT.
