So for about 2 weeks or so our main DVR cable box was flashing Ed01... I couldn't find what the code meant when I googled it but nothing seemed to be wrong with the use of the box so I ignored it. Now a few days ago the code stopped flashing, which I thought was good, but now the DVR and On Demand functions of all the boxes in the house seem to be messed up. It started with freezing while I tried to navigate the DVR list to watch shows I'd recorded. When that kept happening I just switch to watching the same shows on On Demand. That worked for 2 day. Today not only does the box freeze if I try to play a DVRed show, but also if I try to play an On Demand show. This problem is both if I'm trying to play threw the main box or one of the other boxes. This is very frustrating. My family and I have a lot of shows recorded and if we have to replace the box we will lose them which will be very annoying to say the least (especially as some are old enough to not be on On Demand anymore). Please help

What kind of DVR's do you have?
Also, not sure if this helps, but I found:
CDL Error Displayed Error Cause
"kBlm_CdlErr1 Ed01 No Failure

Please check that connections are tight. Is there a splitter connected to the coax line going to the box that can be bypassed?

Was that step 2 or 3 of the Tier 1 Roles and Responsibility document that your copy/paste from? I ask because I helped write it. Why didnt you bring the receiver up in home cert and check the signal levels yourself?

The Cisco manual has a list of failures. Ed01 appears in that list. With no explanation. The other failures all say "improper code file controls" which doesn't help a non-techie to understand what is going on. Health Edge, we are glad you are back. Interesting to note that you have added that line about not being a Cox employee. At one time Cox got in trouble in Arizona for answering 99% of all tv and DVR enquiries with " Please check that all the connections are tight". Cox agreed to stop saying that.
Cayachan, when you get an error code on your DVR that does not go away for days or weeks, you need to schedule a service call or ask to swap out your DVR. Some Cox stores allow you to walk out with a new box ( not the new Contour Record 6, tho).

The DVR I have is the Contor Record 6.
And I know I should scheduale a service call with Cox, but as Cox refuses to talk to anyone in the household except the person on the bill (who's not me but my dad) and it's difficult to get my Dad on the phone with Cox I tend to ignore error messages on the DVR if they aren't causing any problms.
Like I stated earlier the Ed01 message was up for 2 weeks and caused 0 problems with recording or playback on the DVR. And then it went away on it's own like every other error message I've seen go up (okay so normally the error messages last maybe an hour but still).
It was After the error message went away that the problems with the playback started up. And it started up slowly. First I could get some recorded shows to load an not other (I'd get a "wait... loading" message and then a basically "sorry it didn't work try later" message). Then none of the recorded shows would load but the On Demand shows would. Then if I even tried going threw the DVR recorded shows list the whole box would freeze (whether I'm on the main box or one of the other 3 in the house). Then the On Demand list also started causing the box to freeze.
So yes, I know that in the end I'll probably have to schedule a guy to come out and switch out the box. But I'm really hoping to find a solution that does not lose me the shows and movies that my family and I have recorded on this box.
