DVR recording extra 30 minutes & Remote Problems with Brand new box
I have noticed this past week that my DVR has been recording an extra 30 minutes for no reason on some recordings. This is causing other recordings to start recording 30 minutes late because of only 2 shows being recorded at one time. I have not requested an additional 30 minutes for any of these recordings. It is on different shows on different channels and not every recording, only a few of them. The show times are correct showing only the hour so for example from 1 AM to 2 AM but the recording time is 90 minutes. It seems to only be happening between 1 AM and 3 AM.
I have a brand new cable box because of many other problems with cox service so I don't know if it is the box or not. I have had an issue with my remote not working on the cable box twice in the past week and me having to unplug my box to get it working again. Replaced batteries but it still would not work and remote still controls the TV. This is not a refurbished box. It is the newest model Cox uses and was installed here in July right out of the packaging.
Of course these problems are in addition to the fact that I have not had On Demand since March despite multiple fixes. Cox is my only cable option here leaving me with no choice but to deal with Cox Tech however they have taken 2 of my cable boxes this summer alone and I don't really want to lose my DVR recordings again.

To deal with your recording issue I would cancel all of your recordings that are recording extra time. You will not have to delete any recorded shows you have not watched. Then set them back up to record.
The On demand issue is normally signal related so you would want to check your connections as best you can just to be sure. Even if you have in the past, don’t let your pride prevent you from checking them again. What I would suggest is to unhook all your cable connections that you can get to behind your TV completely then hook them all back up nice and hand tight any tighter then that can sometimes damage the ends of the connections and make the problem worst.

My signal has been checked and double checked and triple checked and is coming in loud and clear with Cox so they have determined it is not a signal issue.
As for the recordings, they don't say they are recording the extra 30 minutes ahead of time so I don't know what shows are going to do until after they have recorded.

I would cancel and reset any recording that has recorded extra time in the past. Even if it does not do it every time. To be safe you could cancel and reset all your recordings but if it has not messed up yet it may just be making more work for yourself.
On demand is just a big Video server. So there can only really be two different problems. Either the server is bad and that is why you are having the issue. If that was the case then all other customers would also be having an issue with on demand. Issue that effect that many people are noticed faster, they cannot always be fixed right away but Cox would know they have an issue and be able to tell you they where working on it. So that leaves the only other issue of a signal issue. That could be any where in the line from the connection on your box all the way to the head end. The farther away from your house the problem gets the more it would be an area issue. So this brings us back to the last point that the more people it effects the easier it is to notice that it is a larger issue and start addressing it.
If you give me a description of your issue I may be able to give you some guidance on what could cause it and what kind of service to request from Cox.

Thanks Mike! I am not having the DVR recording issue any more. Seems it was just a fluke for a few days.
I have not had consistent On Demand service since March. They have replaced my cable box twice. They checked my signal and adjusted and tightened all the wires at my box and coming into my house. They have fixed a problem on a pole on my street. After they fixed the pole, I had On Demand for a few days but lost it every Wednesday. They told me to unplug the box every time that happened every week until that finally stopped working. Then they fixed the wiring in the outside cable box that services my house and the other houses in my area. They worked on just my wires. On Demand worked for the day they fixed it and when I woke up the next morning, no On Demand.
When I try to play a show On Demand, I get that my request could not be fulfilled and to try again later. It never works later.
