DVR fast forward

When I playback recorder shows the fast forward doesn't work consistently. Some times the picture just freezes and when I push the play button it starts where I pushed fast forward. Sometimes it skips several minutes forward. Tried restarting the box and same issue occurs when it restarts. 

Now I see that the second box doesn't show recorded shows at all just says retrieving information.

I have the Cisco boxes which were replaced two months ago.
