Yesterday a Cox technician installed a new DTV Converter Box to replace a malfunctioning box. The new unit is the Cisco 4742HDC that does not have a switched power outlet as did the previous box. My home TV setup employs the switched power and I would like to determine if I can get a replacement unit that has a switched power outlet. Are alternate DTV Converters available with a switched outlet? (I have the Advanced TV service tier.)

The Cisco 4742HDC is not a DTV converter box. Its a HD receiver. What do you mean a "switched power outlet"? If you mean a electrical socket, then you would need a Cisco Explorer 4642HDC. Not available in all areas.
Do realize these are HD receivers, and not at the 1.99/2.99$ price point of the Mini boxes. They are more expensive.
