I am becoming more and more frustrated with my cox internet. I am paying for Premier Internet and have been with them for 2 - 3 months. My internet disconnects 5-10 times a day. I have to go and reset my modem and wireless router. I have been to the cox store to discuss and they show that there aren't any issues. I purchased a new wireless router and got the cox upgraded modem. Speeds are somewhat close to what was advertised, but getting kicked off my internet all day is becoming frustrating.
Anyone know why this is happening or having this issue?

When you lose internet, do you also lose phone? If so, what are you signal levels? You can them at 192.168.100.1
If not, have you tried just resetting the router to restore service? Also, are you sure you have a WNDR3400 and not a WNDR3400v3? Either way, it's 10/100 ports will limit you to under 100Mbps, which is less then what you pay for.

We can help you with the connection issues you're having. Are there any splitters being used on the line the modem is connected to? Does the connection come back on its own? Have you noticed any change to the lights on the modem when you lose connectivity? Please email us at cox.help@cox.com with the account information we'll investigate this for you.

Signal levels look good. Do you use Cox phone service? Does it go out when the internet does? Do any of the lights on the modem change?
Also, when the internet goes down, can you still see/ping other device on your network? Like a printer?

I am having the same issues. We just upgraded to the new high speed modem and also to a brand new Airport extreme. We are now down to twice a day. Apple informed me that it is not unusual for companies to not set a static IP on the modem. Thus any time the ip changes it looses connection. Is this true??? how can I get a static IP address assigned to our modem?

pmbedard, there is a known issue between Cox's implementation of IPv6 and the Airport Extreme. See here for an 8 page thread on this issue. To summarize, the work-a-round may be to disable IPv6 by setting the Airport to link-local only.
The only way I know of to get a static IP is to subscribe to a business account, AFAIK, they are not available for home accounts.

Search the forums for this thread: CT- Started Unicast Maintenance Ranging- No Response received - T3 time-out;
That one was started three years ago. Issue is the same. Cox has not (nor will they ever) fix this problem.
I'm beyond frustrated. Calling technicians out for a look, and complaining to COX on this forum, is not working. Someone should start a Class Action Law Suit or a boycott...

If you connect a device directly to your modem with an ethernet cord, reset the modem and your device, and then get back online, do the disconnects continue? Bypassing the Airport router temporarily for a test such as this is the best way to determine if your problem is related to the known issue with Apple routers and IPv6. If the disconnects continue when the router isn't part of the equation, there's probably something else going on that warrants a closer investigation.
