DNS record change
An application a business I support is using has a software update and needs to change the "A" resource record in DNS. Since they are using COX Internet how can this be done?

Do they have Cox Business for internet? Just go to whoismyisp.org to find out. If so, do you have web hosting with Cox? If this is just a normal residential account, you can't change the A record on the IP.

I am still confused by this question. You get a IP from a ISP, but you don't put a A record on a IP, you put it on a domain pointing back to the IP. So the question is what is the domain (website) and who hosts the DNS? MXToolbox is a good place to check. Who ever hosts the DNS for the domain has to change the A record for it. However, if you meant a PTR record, that DOES go on a IP and would be done by your ISP. Do you mean A record or PTR record?
