Here is a feature I'd like to see: If I punch in channel 5 (instead of 1005) for our Fox affiliate, the Contour box will automatically select the HD version of the channel by default. In other words...if there is an HD simulcast of a channel, the Contour box should always default to the HD channel even if I just punch in channel 3 or channel 20. This could be a setting that could be turned off for those that still want access to the SD version of the channel. Other systems that use an ugly dish do it this way so I'm sure Cox could implement something like this.

Apparently this is supposedly a feature already. But, doing a bit of research it depends on what hardware they supply you with on whether you'll be able to utilize this feature. As far as I can tell if you have a Motorola box, you're just sol.

I know I can default the guide to HD only...but that is not the same as what I am asking for.

From the link I posted:
"
New "Auto-tune to HD" ensures you're always watching in HD, where available.
This feature automatically switches to the HD version (if available) of any
channel you select.
Requires an HD or HD/DVR receiver. To turn the feature On or Off, press MENU twice, select My Preferences, select Auto-tune to HD, then select On or Off."
It is supposed to automatically select an HD version of any channel you select when available. This seems to have been an issue for a long time as this is the most recent official word I can find:

The OP said he had Contour. HD Auto-tune is a feature of Rovi (Passport.) Contour does NOT have HD Auto-tune. It may have it in the future, but not now.
