DCC-ACK not received, no response to Unicast Maintenance Ranging - Rebooting Modem.

Recently, my modem has been recycling every hour or so which was annoying but not annoying enough to complain about it. This problem is exasperated however if I start a download.

Before, I accidentally had my WAN speed set to 10mbps and my download was capped to about 1.1 MB/s and the modem rebooted only periodically. Now though that i am utilizing all of my 25mbps though, a 3.5 MB/s download will cause the modem to recycle every 1-5 minutes.

Here is a screenshot of my modem's logs:

Here is the configuration:

I would really prefer to not have to buy a new modem if possible.

The modem was already plugged directly into the wall in regards to the coaxial cable. In regards to power though, I just now fixed that.. The signal information hasn't changed, but go ahead and test again.

The problem is definitely not fixed.

It sounds like the modem might be load balancing trying to find a channel with available capacity to keep up with demand when trying to transfer large amounts of data quickly.  Unfortunately a non-DOCSIS 3.0 modem simply cannot gracefully change channels as how it can only tune one channel at a time.  I would suggest either upgrading to a DOCSIS 3.0 modem or arranging for a technician to come out to troubleshoot further and try testing with a DOCSIS 3.0 modem to see if the issue can be duplicated.

I see, unfortunately i cannot afford to buy a new modem. However, i do not think that it is the modem because this is a new issue and the modem has been working fine before hand.

This issue also does not seem to be speed related, as i consistently lose connection every 300-500 MB downloaded regardless of how fast the download is going.

Hopefully this information will help in diagnosing the problem.

With some of the levels showing ranging at certain times in the logs we can have a tech check the lines to see if that is a factor, but the modem would be part of it as well. If you want to schedule a technician please email us at cox.help@cox.com with a link to the forum topic and we can go from there.
