Data usage
Is the data usage tool a joke or what? take a look at this picture
I didn't change my daily habits after 4/30. There is no way possible I used 62gb in one day, that is insane. I remember having this same problem last year, I went over my usage a few times so I was forced to upgrade to the ultimate package. I kept it for a few months but wasn't even close to the cap so I downgraded back to Premier package.
I might go over again this billing cycle, I've been really busy the last couple weeks and I'm barely on my computer. Yesterday, I watched a few youtube videos and sent out a couple emails, it said I used over 27gb, no way possible.
My connection is secure, it's not open wifi. My password is super hard and I change it a few times a month. I scan all my computers for viruses and malware. There is obviously something wrong if I'm not the only person going through this.

When the issue occurred last year with the Meter, we were able to still view your actual usage on the back end where it was correct and accurate. I've verified that your view of usage matches the data stored on our end and I can tell you that every instance where data usage has seemed to increase unexpectedly and been investigated by our Network Security Team has come back as displaying an accurate report.
Have you added any new devices? i.e. smart TV, Tablet, new pc or laptop, smart phone or gaming system that may have required downloading significant updates? While your personal usage may not have changed many devices are preconfigured to automatically download updates without even notifying the user and these downloads would count toward your usage.

No, even if there was I don't see any of them using 62 gb in one day.

Explain to me how sending a few emails and watching a couple youtube videos counted as 62gb in one day. I don't need a calculator for that.
I tried upgrading to Ultimate Package today because it looks like I'm going to go over again. I was just going to use the Ultimate until the next billing cycle and go back to Premier. They want to charge me a $60 one time professional installation fee? they said it's mandatory. Last year when I changed from Premier to Ultimate, Cox said all I needed was a Doc 3 modem which I already have. They just reseted my modem and that was it. Now on top of the $30 extra for more bandwidth, they want to charge me another $60 now? this is ridiculous.

When I bought my router a couple years ago off amazon, it had great reviews. I found out last month it bought a lot of those 5 star reviews. It's this one http://www.amazon.com/Medialink-Wireless-N-Broadband-Internal-Antenna/dp/B0044YU60M
People are saying it's the same exact as this Tenda router just a different casing - http://www.amazon.com/Tenda-W268R-150Mbps-Wireless-N-Broadband/dp/B004MODQOC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1401749267&sr=8-1&keywords=tenda+model+w368
My network is hidden plus it has a WPA2 personal security, AES encryption and has a tough password. Do you think since my router is garbage has something to do with it? I'm thinking about upgrading to http://www.amazon.com/RT-N66U-Dual-Band-Wireless-N900-Gigabit-Router/dp/B006QB1RPY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1401749413&sr=8-1&keywords=asus+router

My router doesn't have a data usage meter and doesn't even support DD-WRT

The Asus RT-N66U is a great choice. It has bandwidth measuring capability and is fully compatible with dd-WRT and other 3rd party firmware. I don't see how a router could negatively or positively effect bandwidth use but it's an interesting question. The problem would manifest as packet loss, or atleast increased latency, and I wonder if that has anything to do with DOCSIS 3.0 modems causing Xbox One to detect packet loss.
@ChrisL Did you ever get information on this?
"I'll need to look some more however I remember there being a known issue where the Xbox One will see packet loss if connecting to the Internet via a DOCSIS 3.0 modem. No other devices would be impacted which would explain why trace routes from the XP machine are looking good. I never heard of any official resolution on the issue nor have I seen any recent reports of problems from customers either. I believe it was something Microsoft was going to address via a software update."
