They sold you a product, not support of the product. Home Network support cost extra. Its like if you buy a Netgear router at Best Buy, if something goes wrong with it, you call Netgear, not Best Buy. Sure, in either case you can return it for your money back, but thats not the same thing as over the phone support. You only get that if you had the router professionally installed and pay extra for the home network support. Thats not counting basic support like power cycling the network and making sure the modem is working correctly.
What? I am not understanding you. If the problem is a configuration issue with the Netgear, then its Netgear's responsibility to support their product. Its not a Cox router. Its really that simple. If you don't like the conditions, bring it back and buy your own router and learn to use it.
Then give them the heat, return the product. If you wanted a product with support, and didn't get it, then return it. Talk with your wallet. Your paying for the service, not support of equipment they sell you at retail. Think of Cox Store like BestBuy. You can buy stuff normal, or you can get Geek Squad to install it for you. The later cost extra, something you didn't pay. I get that your angry, but that won't change the reality of the situation.
But what is the problem anyway? A search engine is your friend of course, if you have specific issues. But if you could provide some details about what doesn't work perhaps someone here can help you.

I'd go give it back if you can't use it.
