Cox Security Suite Plus
McAfee is active on a newly purchased laptop for a trial period to expire; my question is it best to uninstall this existing promo McAfee subscription prior to downloading the subscription of Cox Security Suite Plus from Internet Tools in My Account on Cox.net?
If I do not remove an existing active McAfee subscription, will Cox Security Suite Plus (which I believe is also McAfee) cleanly install over the promo subscription.

Yes, uninstall the existing promo McAfee software, before attempting to install the Cox version. They are not the same.
The Cox version really uses an extensive amount of PC resources, both CPU and Memory, I would avoid it like an Ebola patient.
IMO, MalwareBytes and ESET are the best.
I just use Microsoft Security Essentials, and scan once a week with the Free version of MalwareBytes and ESET Online Scanner.
