Is anyone else having problems with the Cox online backup manager and getting support for it? I have called the toll-free support number that is dedicated for this service but get stuck on hold for hours. I'm find that I can't change any settings on the program, it is backing up unchanged data multiple times which means that I have duplicate files that are exactly the same. This also means that it takes a long time to complete. The current backup shows 319 days remaining for about 15 GB of data. Upload speed is between 0.04-0.32 KB/sec which is unacceptable for ultimate tier speed. It is also increasing my data usage since it is backing up my data multiple times. I can upload other data using other services much much faster. The reason we went with Ultimate is because of the online backup but if I would have known it was this poorly programmed and supported we would have just switched to CenturyLink Fiber and paid for a real 3rd party online backup solution.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling on both of my computers. When I called the dedicated backup support line they told me that the version I downloaded from the Cox site has problems and the new version will fix those problems that I am experiencing. When I asked how I get the new version they told me that it is up to Cox to release it to their customers and I would have to work with them directly. So I called Cox support but they were clueless about my question and in the end was told to contact Security Support at 1-800-753-6085 to restore my service. Not sure why I would have to restore my service since I'm not have an outage so I pretty much gave up with Cox support at that point. I should have known better that Internet Support probably wouldn't be able to help me after I was forced to cancel my TV service with Cox when their support couldn't figure out why the service wouldn't work.

I just loaded this software yesterday and noticed the constant backup today. Why roll out a product with a major flaw? I just talked to McAfee , they know its an issue, as others have stated, but they have no idea when it will be fixed. I was forced to uninstall the product.

Hi MFM000, we actually do not provide support here for Online Backup. We have a dedicated team in place to field any questions, and perform any troubleshooting steps via our toll-free number.

I just love the fact that every time I call 800-923-7580 and speak to the dedicated support they admit that version 5.1.12.5 of the Cox Online Secure Backup has problems. They said they fixed the problem months ago and sent the newest version of the software to Cox to make available to their customers but yet my software shows it is up to date. Just goes to show that Cox could care less about their customers and the service they are receiving. I bet if Mr. Esser knew how unhappy his customers where that Cox is advertising a service that doesn't work well he would be ashamed.

Not saying your questions or concerns aren't valid, but as a nerd I usually don't touch anything a ISP offers me for free. Anything they offer will just be the commercialized dribble that some large corporation has put out for the mindless masses. Nothing against Cox, Its the same with Comcast or TWC. I see that stuff like the program equivalent of the prize in the cereal box. Have you tried Google Drive or Dropbox?
