Contour Boxes

We are now on our FOURTH cable box. This one, like its predecessors, suffers from a myriad of gremlins including picture freezes, complete box lock ups, "no HD" messages, guide freeze ups, screen freezes on DVR'd programs and repeated self reboots! I have spent hours on the telephone with tech support to no avail and hour more waiting for a tech to arrive at our home with a new box. The one installed yesterday is already malfunctioning and tech support indicated the soonest they will get to us by the end of the week!

Gee, please tell us the STB/DVR model number, and whether or not you have WHDVR.

Hi, if 4 different boxes have been installed at the same cable outlet and you've got the same result each time, we really need to take a look at the cable outlet itself. The chances of you getting 4 bad cable boxes in a row are very slim. We should set up a repeat trouble call and get a technician right back out there. Sorry for the inconvenience. I to have been having problems with my DVR.  It won't play any of the DVRed shows for the past 3 days, and now it freezes when I try to use On Demand as well.  This is very aggravating because I have a lot of shows recorded on this box that I'd like to get to watch and if I have to get it replaces I will lose them all.

Hi Cayachan,

What model DVR are you using? Do you have the Contour WHDVR with Client boxes? Are you getting an Error when attempting to play back a recording? Is it happening when playing back all saved recordings? If a hard reset (unplugging the power to the receiver) hasn't provided any resolve, I'd recommend unplug the power to the cable box, and re-screw the coax to the cable box. Check for any loose connections or possible damage. Once the connection is tightened, please reconnect the power last.
