Contour 2 DVR - drops out of 1080p when fast forwarding?

Something weird about our new Contour 2 DVR boxes - we initially set them all up to display 1080p video.   But if we fast-forward or rewind the DVR, the video output initially studders and the displayed video drops to 720p permanently.   The settings on the Contour setup menu still shows 1080p, but the TV is only receiving 720p.

This happens across all of our televisions - makes me think the Contour 2 is not capable for adequately utilizing 1080p in DVR situations   

Anyone else have this issue?
