For the last few days the internet at our house keeps cutting off. If we do nothing it will eventually reconnect however resetting the modem via unplugging it seems to cause the connection to refresh faster. We have tried directly wiring a computer to the modem but the connect drops anyway so we can rule out the router. When the connection drops all of the lights on the modem turn off except for the power light and then it will eventually go through same process it does when manually reset. Sometimes the lights for send/receive blink for a long while before going solid and connecting. What is causing this issue? It makes it difficult to get any work done with this kind of service interruption.
Note: Modem is a Motorolla SB6141
Router is a Linksys N13171

What state do you live in? I only ask for trending reasons.
Sounds like a signal problem of some type. Could you post your signal levels found here? http://192.168.100.1/RgConnect.asp

I heard of a issue in AZ with some fiber being hit. But that was mostly causing issue with speed and routing problems, not connection problems. Slow vs on/off/on/off.
Could you post your signal levels? Thats a good place to start.

Hmm, odd. Maybe a different firmware. Should be available 192.168.100.1 and then click on "Connect" on the left. If that doesn't work, see here for Arris's instructions.

Hrm, seems to be a string of people having the same issue past couple weeks that all have the same SB6141 modem including myself. Coincidence? I'm located in KS, been having dropped internet until I hard reboot the SB6141 for the past couple weeks, some days no issues some days multiple times per day, but probably 10 times total over past 2 weeks.

I wouldn't put too much stock in it. The SB6141 is the most popular modem right now. Also, T3's are from local signal problems between the modem and Cox's headend (CMTS) for your area. You may have problem, but it's unlikly your issues are related to others unless they are geographically close. Kind of like the electrical grid.
Would you like to start your own thread and us forum users can help you troubleshoot it? In the post, include the modem's signal levels which can usually be found http://192.168.100.1/RgConnect.asp or somewhere at 192.168.100.1. Also post a few of the logs including the T3's. Sometimes how they are grouped, or what errors occur around them can troubleshoot what causes them.
