Cloud backup slow
I started a cloud backup on a Dell desktop over 24 hours ago.
Total to backup is right at 50 gigs.
So far it has backed up 9.9 gigs.
This seems a tad slow.
Any thoughts?

Just tried a test using the web interface to upload then download a 1GB file to my account:
Upload varied from 2.5 to 7.5 Mb/sec, average about 5 Mb/sec.
Download averaged about 7.5 Mb/sec to. Not sure why the download is not much faster than the upload.
Speedtest dot net showed 66.22 Mb/sec down and 11.41 Mb/sec up immediately after the test from the same system. Not sure why I a getting reasonable upload speed but slow download.

What web interface were you using to do the download and upload? Although you may be able to achieve the same speed you get from a test if they have limits in place. Were you using a torrent or was it a website? -Derrick

I was using your website drive.cox.com. Signed on to my account, navigated to an existing folder and clicked "upload files". Monitored speeds using Win 8.1 Task Manager/Performance/Ethernet. After the upload, I just clicked on a file, selected save file and watched the download speed the same way. No torrents, no 3rd party websites, just the Cox Cloud Drive site, File Manager tab.

The upload speed you are getting is accurate with the level of internet service you have. You are supposed to get up to 5 Mbps upload speed.

So over 48 hours to backup 16 gigs (so far) is about right for 5 Mbps?

Ok I will attempt to answer my own question.
In the past 18 hours, about 5 gigs have uploaded to the cloud.
If my upload speed is 5.45.Mbps I should be uploading 0.68125 megabytes per second.
Therefore, it should take about 7,339 seconds to upload 5 gigs or about 2 hours, not 18 hours.
Please feel free to correct my math.

When a folder is being backed up, a blue horizontal bar shows the rate of progress. When I click on the blue triangle on the left hand side of the horizontal bar, the dialog box expands to show the transfer rate, which averages out at about 2 KB/sec. This seems to be independent of the bandwidth usage setting in the settings section. At this rate it will take approximately 290 days to back up 50 GB of data. Cox is pretty safe in knowing that I won't be able to take advantage of their offer of 50 GB of backup.
