The closed captioning is turned off in my settings, however, I still have some channels that are showing closed captioning in other languages.  for example NBC, and HBO East and West.  How do I get this to turn off.

I can only suggest checking your SAP and Language settings on your cable box.  You might also check the CC and SAP settings on your TV.

Hi Arledge,

Bruce's suggestion is right on the money! (Thanks, Bruce!)

Is this happening on each of your receivers, or just one? The Closed Captioning setting is specific to each receiver, so you will need to check the CC Status (On/Off) Setting on all of your receivers.

To open the Contour Closed Captioning Menu, use the following steps:

1. Press the SETTINGS button on your remote
2. Use the UP or DOWN arrow to scroll and highlight Guide Options
3. Press the RIGHT arrow or SELECT button to launch the Guide Options menu
4. Scroll to find and highlight Closed Captioning
5. Press the RIGHT arrow or SELECT button to launch the Closed Captioning Menu
6. Scroll to highlight Closed Captioning Status
7. Press the arrow buttons to toggle the Closed Captioning Status ON or OFF

If you verify that the CC settings are turned off but are still getting closed captioning on one of your TVs, it may actually be coming from within the TV menu.

Let us know if you get this resolved!
