closed caption duration

I have had Contour for a few months now. I was given a flat screen Samsung for Christmas. Two things: everyone has already addressed the CC button issue-the fact that you have to go through 4 or 5 steps to turn it on. My question--has anyone else noticed a very short duration for the closed caption when you watch a recorded movie? It flashes on the screen so quickly that there is no way you can read it! Is there a setting for this? It also happens when watching an on-demand movie.
