Cleaning pc

I have an older PC, and my husband is the primary user. He continually gets a lot of pop ups, is there a safe,free way to clean up the PC so that doesn't happen? We do have McAfee Security Suite. Thanks for any info you can give me.

Hi Escorp, have you scanned the PC with McAfee yet? If so, did it find anything on the PC?
