Cisco 8642HDC Aspect ratio problem and other annoying things...

Just signed up for new Cox service after dropping my satellite provider. I had the whole house DVR installed with 1 additional client last Tuesday. In the A/V menu on the box, there is an option to stretch 4:3 pictures. I have that option selected but for some reason my HD channels get zoomed in too. Anyone know how the *** to fix this, or am I going to have to live with hitting HD Zoom on the remote every time I change channels? Thankfully I don't watch a ton of SD channels, but when I do, I don't want to have to go through this annoying step. Also, I've been having audio sync issues on my local NBC channel. Hopefully that goes away or Cox and I won't be "friends" for very long.

This DVR and its menu is a POS. I cancelled Cox and went with Dish. Good luck!

First off please accept my apology in the delayed response to your post.  I hope you have since had this resolved, but if you haven't I would be glad to help out! Picture formatting issues can sometimes be tricky.

One of the first things to check would be the settings on the TV connected to the box. Once you can verify that "zoom" is turned off and the TV formatting is set to wide or full (depending on the TV), the next step is to make sure the HD picture format selected in the box menu matches the format supported by your TV. To check this information you can usually look in the manual that came with the television. If the supported formats are not listed in the manual, you can check the manufacturer website or reach out to them directly.  You next want to view a standard definition channel to see if you need to make adjustments on how the box is delivering that picture to the television. Some TV's automatically adjust the standard def channels once the TV is set correctly. If this isn't the case for your television, you'll need to try each of the standard definition options in the menu to see which one displays to your liking.

Please note, for the changes to take effect, you may need to power the cable box off and then back on again.

As for audio sync issues, sometimes those are coming from the broadcaster themselves, and sometimes it can be a setting on the device you are using for audio, be it the TV or a surround sound system. If you need any additional assistance, please feel free to reach back out to us.

I hope this helps!
