They tell you you get, in my case, 280+ channels. What they don't tell you is how many they are counting twice. As an example Cox counts ESPN regular definition and ESPN high def as two channels but each carries the same programming. Total up all the channels they do this with and I believe I might actually have less 140 channels. Then take away the Spanish channels, the shopping ones, the political ones, etc. and I have the same ones I watched before "upgrading to contour". The only benefit I get is a DVR that records 6 at once.
Then too the new contour box does not support Caller Id for phones and a couple of other old tech things like in Guide the old one showed the movie's genre. The new one ** it is so limited.

I'm sorry that you aren't satisfied with the new Contour. Have you checked out the in-Guide apps, like Sports, Traffic, and Weather apps? Have you customized the Favorites feature so Contour can provide customized recommendations? How do you like the dynamic Search capabilities of the new Contour? Do you have the voice-activated remote control? Many folks have requested the TV Caller ID feature, and we hope to add it at some point in the future.
The channel counts listed on the Cox Advanced TV packages include the SD channel, the HD channel (if available), Cable Radio channels (if available), and the Music Choice channels. This is the way the cable TV industry, as a whole, counts available channels.

I have dealt with Cox for a lot of years, I live in an area that has many good provider choices, unlike some markets. All of the good choices adhered to "industry standards", but the one that operated above "industry standards" is the one I have dealt with all these years. I don't understand why Cox decided to lower their standards to "industry standards.
