Cannot schedule a series recording on Contour Cisco 8642HDC

I cannot schedule a series to record. I get a message "function is unavailable". After trying to schedule a series, the show is listed in Series Manager but none of that programs show times are marked to record. I have a Cisco 8642HDC. I have tried unplugging the box and also sending the reset signal. This just started as I was previously able to schedule a series. on another matter, my Caller ID is not showing up on TV for the last 3 weeks (I have a thread in the phone tools trying to fix this). Just another happy day in Cox Cable nevernever land......

Any problem recording a show normally? As in not a series? Can you pause/rewind/etc? Almost wonder if they have the order wrong on how the receivers are on the account. The main host DVR needs to be first, otherwise it can sometimes forget it's a DVR.

I have no problem recording an individual show. In fact, I can schedule a single recording for the first episode of the series I am attempting to set up. I can fast forward, rewind, etc. Where are you seeing the order of receivers you mention? Thanks Frank

Frank,

Are you trying to record new episodes only? If so, are any new episodes scheduled in the next two weeks? What series program are you trying to record?

I don't remember any mention of WHDVR.

Not sure actually, since I no longer have cable myself. Maybe here? The only reason I know is something similar happened to me the last house I was in. Was trying to get the the online "Remote DVR" function to work, which only effects the first receiver on the account. if that receiver is not a DVR, the Remote DVR doesn't work. Its a stretch, but might explain the TV caller ID issue? But Domino is the cable expert. I refer to him.

Domino, I am trying to record "Better Call Saul", there are new episodes on 2/8 and 2/9. I have the series set to record new only. I do have the whole house Contour with one "master" and one "slave" box. I cannot schedule the series from either box. Thanks

Hmmm...I just scheduled it fine on my 8642HDC, for 2/8. Unfortunately, 2/9 still reads "To Be Announced" in the grids. When did you try it? February 9 is 13 days away (from today.) Otherwise, 2/8 worked fine.

Please give us your complete method of attempting to record this series.

I found the program in the grid [select], record [select], record series [select]. Then: First run only, Any channel, etc.

That gave me THREE episodes with the weird double check in the grids: 2/8, 2/9, and the summary episode on 2/2.

How *exactly* are you attempting this?

Call up the Guide Press B to select a date then navigate to February 8 change channel viewed in the guide to 1066 use arrow to navigate to 10 PM which is "Better Call Saul" Press Select - record series- then first run only. Frank

Hmm...your leaving out the step where you press SELECT for "RECORD", before you do it for "RECORD SERIES." Anyway, what happens? Do you get the "double checks" in the guide grid?
